Toastmaster Lawrence McKenna to Join This Sunday’s Event

My Special Event and The Vintage Tea Birds are pleased to welcome Lawrence McKenna to their upcoming Wedding and Events Fayre.

Lawrence McKenna

Military Beginnings

Lawrence began his career in a different uniform. He was in the military serving his country including fighting in the Falklands and Northern Ireland. This led Lawrence to pursue a position as a Commanding Officers Batman which is a military-style Butler. The training was at The Household Cavalry Barracks London which Lawrence thoroughly enjoyed.

Change of Direction

Upon leaving the army, Lawrence decided to learn about the high end of hospitality and fine dining, working at several prestigious restaurants throughout the country. Later this leads to a call and he began working at Cliveden House Taplow, starting off in the dining room, then being asked to look after Spring cottage, Queen Victoria’s Tea Room. Lawrence was not just serving tea now he was back to being what he enjoyed, a butler.

A Royal Appointment

Next came Claridges, where Lawrence was appointed Head Butler for the two penthouse suites and this is where he was approached by a guest and asked to be their butler, an offer he couldn’t refuse.

For many years Lawrence has been a Butler for many Captains of Industry and the Duke of Richmond/ Lord March, he has his sights on looking after the Royal Family. Lawrence achieved this goal not once but on several occasions at St James’s Palace and Royal Ascot.

The Bar For This Butler Was Set Higher

Lawrence thought he was at the height of his career then was asked to look after The Saudi Royal Family – Prince Turki, second son of the King of Saudi Arabia. History then again repeated itself when he was whisked away to look after the family again for the Beast DJ Music Festival.

From Butler to Toastmaster

Lawrence decided to re-train last year and to become a Toastmaster. He wanted to pass on all the skills and knowledge he already learnt as a high-end butler, but adapt them to suit his new skills as a Toastmaster for Weddings and Events.

So many may ask “What exactly is a Toastmaster? What does he do?”

Well, a Toastmaster is someone who can help with your event. He is there to enhance your day, your experience and help everything run smoothly. Toastmasters are professional, they are Masters of Ceremonies, they are there to help from the small things to the larger things involved in Weddings and Events.
