My Special Event- Established 2016

So you want to know all about My Special Event, about me and why I became an Event Planner? There is a lot to learn so pay attention.

My name is Zoe. I am the owner of My Special Event 

I qualified in 2018 with The Regent Academy as an Event and Wedding Planner., but have run My Special Event since 2016.

Once qualified it was My Special Event, about me and how I was going to help others with their events as many times when organising events in the pass for myself I wished there was that little bit of help.

So why study to become an Event and Wedding Planner?

After many years of work and qualifying in various fields, I decided it was time to do something different.


Well I have had the pleasure of organising my own weddings and several parties for myself and others (my 30th, Mum’s 50th, my Son’s Christening and New Year’s Eve parties etc…) I decided to make a business out of it and help others.

My Special Event – About Me and The Name 

My Special Event was born after lots of research into appropriate names.  As I was studying I wanted to create a business which was different but at the same time tell people what I am about.  My Special Event.….I help people organise “their Special Event” “their Special Day”.  I basically do what it says on the tin!

What Did I study – Where? How Long?

Events and Wedding Planner Course

The course was studied at home and took me just over 2 years to complete.  In that time I moved house, brought up my son and worked self-employed as an Office Administrator.

I currently live with my husband and young son in the seaside town of Bognor Regis, although I am originally from Crawley and Horsham.

I now enjoy the sea and sand and the sunshine which this seaside town has to offer to its residents.

The course I studied will enable me to organise various special events for my clients.

I qualified with a Level 3  Distinction Award and an ABC Award Quality Licence Scheme Certificate of Achievement.

Regent Academy’s Event and Wedding Planner Course Assignments

The course itself was very varied and enabled me to learn a variety of skills and increase the knowledge base I already had in this field.

A total of 15 assignments were completed.

They covered the following subject matters:

  • Budgeting and Time Frame from beginning to plan an event.
  • Theme & Style
  • Venue
  • Catering
  • Transport
  • Photography
  • Wedding Traditions
  • Entertainment
  • The finishing touches – Flowers/Stationary/Decorations/Guestbooks and Favours
  • Coordinating and Planning of events
  • Fund-Raising Events
  • Planning Seminars, Training Events, and Other Business Events
  • Parties for Children and Adults
  • Working as an Event and Wedding Planner – Legal/Finance

Event Planner Now but Experience in various Job Roles

Previously, I have worked in a variety of roles

  • Conveyancing Secretary,
  • Nursery Nurse
  • Team Leader for a local Children’s Nursery.
  •  Administration Assistant for a local Veterinary Equipment company.

I have had experience organising special events in the past.

  • My own weddings
  • Friends and family birthday parties
  • Anniversary parties
  • Dinner parties including a Murder Mystery Party
  • Charity Fundraisers – Sponsored walks, Sponsored Haircuts
  • Charity concert for the Cat and Rabbit Rescue Centre.

I have a wide range of contacts and feel that I can bring something special to your special day. When I take on a new client or work with a pre-existing one, I always have a consultation.

My Special Event believes that by having a consultation I can discuss all the ideas my clients have and come up with a plan of action.

My Special Event & the areas I cover

Initially, I will be covering the West Sussex area with the view to expanding later on.

Events which are outside of the West Sussex area can be catered for but this may incur a travel fee – or the enquiry will be passed to another event planner who I know is available to cover that area and event.

So What is Next for My Special Event?

Well since the Covid- 19 Pandemic hit in 2020, the Event’s Industry has been hit very hard and many businesses have had to rethink the services they offer.

For 18 long months, many of us have not had any clients or any work of any type and the restrictions in place which are constantly moved made it difficult to decide what to do for the best.

My Special Event took some time out to rebrand and rethink their business and what to offer.  Although, they will no long be concentrating on Weddings and Corporate Events, they will  be offering guidance and support with personal events, parties and charity events as well as a new exciting adventure due to be launched in JANUARY 2022…… watch this space.!
